I've never been a Diamond Head fan. Not that I hated them or anything like that but I never heard much by them - I remember when they had a bit of buzz back in the old NWOBHM days from reading metal mags and think I may have heard part of one album back then but I can't recall for sure, back in those days it was not ez to get into new bands, there was no internet, no radio play here in the US for this band etcIn any case they were not something I got into (unlike other NWOBHM bands like Iron Maiden or Saxon which I loved and over the years have stayed with for every single album). I was always curious about them because of reading about them, but anything I did manage to hear did not do much for me.Then when Diamond Head were endorsed by Metallica and Megadeth later that buried any curiosity or interest that I had - I do not like speed/death metal or either of those bands and if they liked them then I figured I probably wouldn't.Fast forward to 2016. I read a glowing review somewhere about this album and think it kept coming up in Amazon in the "other people that bought this also bought this" kind of thing. My curiosity got renewed and thx to the internet was able to sample some songs and every one blew me away so I bought this and...I cannot get it out of my player. It not only is the best album I've bought this year, but may be my favorite over the last 20 years! The album has a 1970's stripped down live in the studio sound. No overproduction here. Just plug in and play. The songs are ALL fantastic and memorable. The singer is GREAT. The guitars absolutely cook. I love this so much I have gone back and am acquiring every DH album (their catalog is a confusing mess however, with some things hard to even get). I have got most of their back catalog by now and quite a bit of it I like, but I think this is album is their absolute zenith, which saying that may be unfathomable to long time fans, but it is how I feel.If you like hard rock/metal with straightahead no nonsense playing, no overwrought produciton, memorable songs, great melodies, killer guitar work....you need this.Am looking forward to seeing them later this here on tour here in the USA. They are coming to my area and I will be there....
